 "Unaware"

I don't think I'm finished with this poem. I'm doing it for my poetry project in English class...tell me what you think please.

“Unaware”
Sitting in the corner, wanting to talk with you.
There is something I want you to know,
But the words don’t seem to flow.
It’s become a burden, a talk that’s way overdue.

A cry out to you, of shear desperation.
Locked in a cage deep down in my chest;
Wanting to escape is it’s only request.
To do so, I need to have this one conversation.

This enormous desire is to be able to speak.
If I could get past the start,
Then the rest would flow from within my heart.
I shove my hearts desire, “I’ll face it later in the week.”

The week goes by, and the sun goes down.
My chances of talking with you have past,
For this week went by so fast.
If only I could have turned my decisions around.

There will always be the guilt in the back of my head,
Of the great despair,
That I’ll remain unaware,
From knowing what you just might have said.

 Puppy Dog Eyes

This is one of my favorite poems by far...

“Puppy Dog Eyes”
Glistening puppy dog eyes,
Brighten up my glooming skies.
They allow me to see a different side,
Deep down, I still want to run and hide.
Leave it all behind.
My friend; I’m lost, confused, and hard to find.

I look into those puppy dog eyes,
And underneath this disguise,
I decide to knock down my wall;
Hopefully I’ll remain tall, and shine above it all.

To my surprise,
Out pops those puppy dog eyes.
Once again they’ve changed my mind,
For this whole time I’ve been blind.
The only things I’ve been able to see,
Have been to a certain degree.

Hidden underneath a darkened sky,
Is my favorite puppy about to cry.
I grab a hold of those dear little paws,
Not wanting to, but having to show my flaws.
I look into those big brown puppy dog eyes,
Not wanting to, but having to say our last goodbyes.

I’ve lost my best friend,
His life has come to an end.
Our friendship slowly dies,
As I realize I can’t enjoy looking into those puppy dog eyes.

 Piece of My Heart

“Piece of my Heart”

I’ll give you a piece of my heart,
For you to shape and mold,
It’s a piece of me to you,
For you to hold.
Keep it with you daily;
Never to bend or fold.
Hide it within your own,
Keeping it alive, never to grow old.
A chunk of me is missing,
But it has a good home.
For with you my friend,
My life is untold.
Within your arms,
You hold a piece of gold.
It’s bright and shiny,
And surprisingly bold.
Remember to keep it with you,
Keep it warm, not to get cold.
Treasure this forever;
For what you behold,
Is the main part of my soul,
And I want it to remain with you,
Never to be sold.

This was for Mrs. Parker, and her response to it was this:
"That poem was truly awesome. Seriously it was.... makes me feel kind of humble being responsible for a piece of your heart. I will try and take care of it as best as I can."

 "A Friend in You"

Here is both copies of this poem....

“A Friend in You”

Living in a home of strife,
All I know to be my life.
A smile that’s sure to shine,
Always encouraging that it will be fine.

You’re a friend indeed,
You have closed my wound;
No longer must I bleed,
Now that you’ve come around.

On a sickened day,
I head your way.
Depressed, sad, or mad;
I go hang out in your pad.

You’ve become a part of me,
An impact upon my life.
Reaching out to me like no other,
Giving me insight beyond my years.

You’ve had your troubles,
Pains, and sorrows.
And yet you’re still here,
Sharing your joy with ones, including me.

I have spoken things I didn’t think I could,
Things I kept hidden inside.
You opened your ears and listened,
Sometimes even replied.

My heart has been evaluated,
Here are the results:
A loving caring kind.
Unmatched to the old.

I actually want to survive,
To continue to hold on.
Im thinking completely different than before,
All because you opened your door.

“A Friend in You”
Broken down to the ground,
Wanting to be found.
A smile that’s sure to shine,
Led me to believe that it was all fine.

When I shed a tear,
You wiped away my fear;
With the melody of singing birds,
Hidden beneath your genuine words.

You’re my bright shining star,
That healed my scar;
Lit my path;
And led me away from life’s awful wrath.

You’re a friend indeed,
There for my every need.
Whether it be a tear falling from my face,
Or my mind wandering into outer space.

You Changed my life from the very start;
Entered deep within my lonely heart;
Reached out to my desperate cry;
Taught me that I could accomplish anything if I try.

You Held my hand as I walked through fire;
Sowed my cuts received from barbed wire;
Ran to my aide as I searched for love;
You’re the person I always dreamed of.

You’re sweet like honey from a bee hive;
You’re the drive pushing me to survive.
You’ve become my best friend,
The first to extend love without end.

You’ve been by my side through thick and thin,
I look over and I see your wide grin.
Helping my problems one after another,
Its now I realize how much I consider you as a God Mother.

If it wasn’t for you giving me medication,
I may not have faced this transformation.
Im thinking completely different than ever before,
All because you gladly opened your door.
